Licensure Information

In order to meet eligibility requirements for an Ohio teaching license, candidates must:

  • Show proof of earning a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Complete the appropriate subject area coursework
  • Complete a state-approved teacher preparation program
  • Earn passing scores on the appropriate state-required licensure examinations

Pursuing Teacher Licensure

If you do not already hold a bachelor's degree, consult the Department of Teacher Education and Department of Kinesiology and Health websites to learn more about our state-approved teacher preparation programs.

Individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree may request a transcript evaluation to determine what courswork will be required in order to meet the subject area and teacher preparation program requirements. The Transcript Evaluation Request Form is available here
