Fall 2016 Edition

Melanie Stearns received her Master’s in Literacy from WSU in 2007, graduating at the top of her class. She returned to campus to acquire her Reading Endorsement after several years teaching in Christian education. She has been an adjunct instructor since 2013, and is currently teaching 7th and 8th grade. Ms. Stearns was nominated for our spotlight due to her passion for literacy, her academic tenacity, and career accomplishments.

In what way do you feel like the TED program does a great job preparing you for a career teaching literacy?

I feel as though the TED program was designed for educators. The classes are accessible, the professors are knowledgeable, and the environment is one that makes learning feel purposeful.
