Why Choose the Transition to Work Program?

This endorsement is designed for a current Intervention Specialist or Career Technical Education teacher who wishes to add skills and knowledge regarding career assessment and transition into workplace settings.

Students seeking an endorsement in Transition to Work must hold a current Intervention Specialist or Career Technical Education teaching certificate or license. Students who do not have a current (expired) teaching credential must complete the renewal requirements for a license prior to the granting of the endorsement in Transition to Work.

The holder of a standard Intervention Specialist teaching credential may add an endorsement in Transition to Work by completing the listed 10 semester hours. The program is completely online and occurs from January to December of each year. An application deadline of November 30th is strictly enforced. Students who have a Career Technical Education license complete a series of courses in Intervention Specialist/Special Education. Candidates should contact the program director for more information.

Wright State University's Transition to Work Endorsement preparation program meets the Chancellor's requirements for program approval and the State Board of Education's minimum standards for graduate level programs leading to the Transition to Work Endorsement. Approval was granted for Wright State University's graduate level program leading to Transition to Work Endorsement until the fall 2021 review cycle.

Admission Deadlines

The TTW Program reviews and admits new students once a year. New students are eligible to begin the program the spring semester after approved admission. The deadline to have all required application materials submitted is November 30th of each year. 

Admission Requirements

  • Current Ohio Intervention Specialist or Career Technical Education teaching license
  • 2.5 Cumulative minimum GPA

Admission Process


Step 1: Apply to Graduate School.

  • When prompted:
    • Indicate that you are pursuing a certificate program.
    • Select College of Education and Human Services.
    • Select Transition to Work Endorsement.
  • In order to submit the admission application, you will be required to pay a $40 application fee.
  • Have official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities (except WSU) sent to The Graduate School.

Step 2. Complete Program Application.


Step 3. Submit clear criminal background check results (BCII & FBI). Background checks must be taken within the 12 months prior to applying for admission.

The Division on Career Development and Transition (DCDT), a division of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), has been promoting career development and transition services for persons with disabilities since 1976.

We hope you had the opportunity to join us for the 18th Annual DCDT International Conference - "Transition Rocks" in Cleveland, Ohio, in November 2014. The conference included a number of transition related strands including transition assessment, cultural diversity, postsecondary education and employment, family involvement, and community partnerships. We were pleased to have over 560 registrants. Over the last 18 years, the International DCDT Conference has brought together secondary transition stakeholders from across the country to network and focus on research-based strategies to support youth with disabilities as they transition from school into post-school life.
